Our ask for "Ireland: a model of substance"

Dear member,

Ireland’s story as a major beneficiary of globalisation has been the foundation for most of Ibec's engagements and communications during 2017 with a view to addressing the reputational challenges to our business model. Colleagues and I have used every opportunity to communicate the substance of the Irish business model, championing its success and defending its reputation.

At Ibec HQ last week, the Tánaiste and Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation Frances Fitzgerald TD officially launched our campaign Ireland: a model of substance to equip business and stakeholders with this story so that we can become more consistent and persistent in our messaging. The event was the culmination of Ibec's work to develop a strong evidence based publication to help business describe the remarkable substance behind the Irish business model. It charts its course over several decades and defines substance with six themes:

· evolution

· global footprint

· full business lifecycle

· world class

· global hub

· clusters

The publication includes messaging, case studies, timeline, economic analysis, facts and league tables and we have also commissioned a short animation to provide you with a lighter approach to delivering these messages.

The success of the next phase of this campaign will be defined by our members embracing this story and communicating it within their business. Our ASK is for you to talk about it to employees, decision makers, customers, suppliers, investors and stakeholders and to customise the campaign for your needs. Here at Ibec, we will continue to engage with both business and political stakeholders domestically and leverage our international networks to communicate the campaign messages globally. We will also continue to develop material to support your effort; case studies, messaging, speaking notes and can offer member briefings and any other suggested supports. We would like your feedback as to how we can best support your communications.

We hope this campaign inspires you to get behind it, understand the substance of the Irish business model and share the story. To view the campaign video and download a copy of our publication go to www.ibec.ie/irishsubstance

As always it’s great to hear back from you with feedback you might have on the campaign and any other issues.

Kind regards

Danny McCoy
