Ibec Seanad nomination

Governance on Ibec nominees to Seanad Éireann

Ibec is a Seanad nominating body within the Industry and commercial panel. Each nominating body may nominate a fixed number of candidates. This number is obtained by dividing the ‘appropriate number’ of candidates for the panel by the number of nominating bodies registered for that panel. Ibec can nominate 1 candidate. The Ibec nominee may not be subsequently successful in securing a Seanad seat. Note this is NOT the number of seats for each panel but the appropriate number of candidates for each nominating bodies’ sub-panel.
