Irish Medtech Awards finalists revealed Friday, 2 November 2018The Irish Medtech Association, the Ibec group that represents the medtech sector, with Enterprise Ireland and IDA Ireland today announced the finalists for The Irish Medtech Awards 2018 which will be held 6 December, in Rochestown Park Hotel Cork. Irish Medtech Association Director Sinead Keogh said: “Ireland’s medtech sector is growing at such a phenomenal rate that it’s important we take the time to recognise some of the companies driving this global success. In the past couple of years we’ve seen an incredible €259 million in investments added and more than 2,000 jobs publicly announced right across Ireland. I want to congratulate these innovation trailblazers who have been shortlisted as finalist for the ‘Medtech Rising: The Irish Medtech Awards 2018’ which are making medtech one of the top must-watch growth sectors in the Irish economy.” Enterprise Ireland, Senior Development Advisor, Life Sciences Department, John Shiel: “Irish medtech start-ups continue to raise significant funding and gain international attention. Their ability to develop cutting-edge technologies is supported by our strong innovation ecosystem with academic institutions evolving to ensure they’re at the forefront of global trends. In addition, the sub-supply base continues to develop to meet the needs of increasingly demanding international customers, thus ensuring Ireland remains a very supportive location for medtech FDI. Medtech Rising: The Irish Medtech Awards put these leading organisations on a stage with FDI multinationals and other strategic players in the medtech ecosystem to recognise the strength and diversity of Irish companies and institutions.” IDA Ireland’s Head of Medical Technologies Rachel Shelly said: “Ireland is a thriving destination for medtech, with the world’s leading companies choosing to locate and grow their operations here, supported by a world-class cluster of partner suppliers. Our emerging connected health sector is being driven by the presence of all of the top 10 global biopharma companies, 9 of the top 10 technologies companies and a growing cluster of digital businesses. Ireland is a terrific location for accessing top talent, driving collaboration and innovation. I want to commend all the companies that have secured a place as finalist for the Irish Medtech Awards 2018 and I look forward to meeting the winners on 6 December.” KPMG Ireland Tax Director Mary McGinley said: “In an unpredictable and changing global economy, Ireland’s strong business environment is a breeding ground for success. KPMG is delighted to continue to support the Irish Medtech Awards. The medtech industry in Ireland has global ambition and a commitment to delivering innovative healthcare solutions.
